Pacifiers

Has anyone RECENTLY gotten their kid to give up the pacifier? I feel like it's getting to be time, looking for gentle ways to ease out of it. My daughter LOVES her pacifiers.

Update - since it seems like a lot of us are in the same spot, here's what we're trying right now. We just did Ferber with my baby so we're doing kind of a pacifier Ferber 😂😂 we started letting her have them for 15 minutes at a time, then taking them for 30 minutes, then once the timer was up we wouldn't give them right back to her but we'd wait until she asked for them and let her have it for another 15 minutes. Then yesterday we did 10 minutes with the pacifier, 35 minutes without it. Today we're onto 7 minutes with it, 40 minutes without. We're still giving it for nap/bedtime too.

In addition, we're starting to seed a story that there are baby foxes in the neighborhood that are sad because they don't have pacifiers, and maybe she could give hers away to them. I read about this on someone's blog or something that they did something similar, and then they replaced the pacifiers with a "gift" from the baby animals. I let my daughter pick a pretty bracelet from Etsy and told her that's what the baby foxes will give her for the pacifiers so once I get that in the mail we'll probably try this. She's been talking about how the baby foxes want her pacifiers so I hope it'll work. I think I might also get a little fox plush or teether, since I've noticed her putting a lot of random crap in her mouth since having no pacifier in there - we're back onto eating fricking paper again like she's six months old 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Anyway, seems to be going ok for now I'll update more in a bit!

Update - we gave away the pacifiers to the "baby foxes" 2 days ago. We kept one for nap/night time and otherwise have been holding that pacifier all day and she hasn't used one or really asked for it. Going well! I'd suggest getting some kind of fun teether since she seems to want to put everything in the universe in her mouth now that she doesn't have a pacifier!
