So my ex texted me

So me and my ex broke up about a month ago. Our main reason for the break up is the fact he have opposite schedule(he works at night nurse) Nd is going thru a lot mentally. Anyways, he said we could stay friends if I want. Anyways he text me after not talking to each other for about 3 weeks saying hey how are you? Should I answer or not? I haven’t answered yet. I feel like because he is a nurse right now during this virus, it may be rude to not answer his text and also see how he is. What do y’all think?
