Any tips/advice for newly weds/roommates?

We’ve been dating for 7 years and are finally tying the knot and shortly after moving in with each other! We’ve slept over each other’s places before and I’m currently staying with his parents so I’m not sure if moving in will be a totally different thing.. I’ve had roommates before. Any advice on keeping things mellow? Date nights? Etc?

Just have open, honest communication and realize things will not always be sunshine and rainbows.  I moved in with my husband 2 weeks prior to our wedding and I had never lived with anyone else before other than my parents & sister.  I personally adjusted really well to living with him.  There were things that annoyed us about each other, but we were able to solve those issues by talking it out and compromising.

Definitely communicate about house hold duties and what you both expect the other to do. Expect that there will be tensions sometimes and arguments as you both get into a groove of living together. Tell him when you appreciate something he does and be specific. If you don’t like something, be calm and specific with telling him how you feel and why: “I don’t like when you expect me to clean up after you, it makes me feel like you don’t respect me” stuff like that
