Polyp outside cervix

So I’m a little nervous about having a polyp removed at my 12 week appointment. At my 8 week (first) appointment my OB said there was a small benign polyp outside of the cervix and it’s common. She said if the body didn’t absorb it she would have to remove it at the next appointment. Has anyone had that done and was it painful?? Does anyone know what they actually do to remove it? The unknown is what scares me but if I knew what the process was I think I’d feel better and more prepared. Thanks ladies!
