Preschool
Is anyone else struggling to figure out what to do about preschool amidst this pandemic? We found a preschool that we love and put our son on the waitlist 6 months ago, and now the director emailed us and told us that they will most likely open up again at the end of the month so my son can start in June. My son is behind with his speech. He talks all the time and knows a billion words, but he doesn’t say a lot of phrases that are more than 2 words long, like “vacuum blanket” or “eat banana”. He’s an only child so my biggest concern about delaying his preschool enrollment is that he doesn’t have anyone to play with at home to help him develop social skills, other than me and my husband obviously. We are planning to move forward with IVF in this summer, so I’m definitely concerned about being pregnant when my son could potentially expose me to Covid through his school, but with my age we really can’t put it off any longer. I also live in an urban area in California where covid cases are higher than other areas. His preschool is a mixed age group between 2-5years with approximately 16 kids total with 2 teachers. What do you think I should do? What are you planning to do? Also, I already emailed our pediatrician and she couldn’t give me an answer, other than to do whatever makes us most comfortable.
