What's with name signs?

I literally don't get it, why is this a thing? I feels like a waste to me because they're probably not going to keep it forever.

One could say the same about any nursery decorations! I certainly don't expect my baby to keep anything I am putting in her room 🤷‍♀️ I will be keeping her birth announcement crochet project that the other women in the family are making for her in case she wants to see it when she is older and because it is special to me, but I'm not expecting it to be used again. Some people just enjoy decorating!

It’s cute decoration. My daughter has the name sighs/letters I made for her at two still, and it’s helped her recognize her name and I’ve used it to teach her how to spell her name. I think she’ll likely get use out of it for a few more years unless she voices that she no longer likes the color/decoration of it, in which case it’s a nice decoration that lasted a few years (and mine cost about $5 to make, because I made it myself).

My bedroom door still has my a sign on it that says “Brittany’s room” it’s got teddy bears on it and has been there since I was like 1-2 and my sister still has her name in letters on her door 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s just cute decoration. Like someone else said if you don’t like it you don’t have to do it
