How fast do you pick up baby to feed?
I’m a first time mom to a 3 week old baby and am breastfeeding on demand. I typically let her fuss for about 5-10 minutes after she wakes up and starts making noises (but not crying) before picking her up to nurse. When I do this she feeds about every 2 hours, sometimes 1.5 hrs. But my helper nanny who is my mom’s age suggested I let her fuss/play by herself in her crib and stall time until it’s been about 3.5 hours since her last feed started. She says this way the baby will be legit hungry and will eat more and sleep longer between feeds rather than getting up every 1.5 to 2 hours. But sometimes I see her let baby play/fuss for an HOUR alone in the crib or until baby starts crying hard for food... As a first time mom it makes me cringe and feel sorry for the baby... is this okay to do? How soon do you guys pick up your baby to nurse?
