Sippy Cup help

So this may be a dumb question.. but how do you use a sippy cup? My LO is fed breast milk from a bottle and eats purées twice a day. Do I give a sippy cup when we usually feed breast milk to replace bottles? Or just during the day to use whenever she wants? And I’ve read to fill them with water? There’s just so much info out there, I’m not sure what to do
