Ta ta . . .

Whitney

I started out with a first goal of six months, then I went another few more weeks given the COVID stay-at-home situation. I’m hanging on to my first feed of the day as long as it lasts, but I’m otherwise ending my breastfeeding journey.

I’ve been very up and down about the transition, which began when my baby was clearly demanding more milk than I could keep up with. I knew if we started to supplement with formula, that might only increase the pace of weaning (I was not wrong).

Today was the first day I didn’t fight the inevitable and try to breastfeed after that first feed of the day. I showered, put on a real bra and a real shirt for the first time since my first trimester. My husband told me he wanted to make a nice meal for dinner to celebrate my breastfeeding journey, and I burst into tears. But, I am relieved to know my baby is getting enough milk while also tending to my own body for a change.

Feels good. Until next time (maybe), ta ta to the milkmaid me! ♥️🥛😘
