Can my baby stay in her car seat for 12hours?

Question

We’re taking a 12hour trip by car. BUT we figured if we do it at night while the baby is sleeping it will go a lot smoother. My baby will be 10.5months old on the drive. 
Our plan is to have regular day at home but when bedtime rolls around, instead of laying her in her crib, we will buckle her in her car seat and drive through the night. Husband and I will switch off. 
Reading about car seat safety online, I’m wondering if that’s safe for her to be in the car seat that long without a break for her since she is sleeping. 😳What about just drive 6 hours into the night and then get a hotel?

That’s too long. Would you want to be in one position for that long? We took a road trip and our son was out of his seat every 2-3 hours.

That's way too long to be the car seat. Even if baby is sleeping. The baby shouldn't be in the car seat longer than 3 hours. So you might have to break the trip up to account for rest stops

Would you not stop to change the diaper? That just sounds uncomfortable

Seems like a good idea to me 🤷‍♀️ a lot of travel info I've read about road tripping with kids is to do it overnight for that reason. As long as the car seat is reclined and you keep checking on baby to make sure their head isnt down I dont see a problem. Maybe call the pediatrician and an just to be safe? Ours is 9 months and were planning a trip before all this happened for this summer and that was our plan.

The reason they say babies shouldn’t be in a car seat for over 1.5-2 hour periods is because the way they’re sitting minimally affects their breathing and can cause asphyxiation. As nicer as it would be I wouldn’t risk it!

I see no issue if baby is asleep, I would also recommend sitting in the back with him/her. 
Of course if baby wakes, change/feed/remove them from their seat for a few. But other than that I don’t see a problem what so ever. 
Hotel is always an option tho! Up to your guys to decide ultimately

From experience i’ve driven from CT to OH (8.5 hours) and from CT to Canada (9 hours) with my son. Each tome i did the late night trip but i would get out every 2-3 hours at the road stops or gas stations and change his diaper and make him a bottle or snack. He’d drift back off to sleep. But he is fine and healthy and never suffered

I am pretty sure the baby will wake up multiple times during that trip if he’s uncomfortable so just make a bathroom stop or gas station stop and pick him up stretch himself a little bit so it’s not so rough for him.  But honestly if he sleeps the whole time miraculously I wouldn’t wake him up but I am just confident he will wake up... to change, feed.. so it’s good time to let him stretch
