Confused with my boyfriend

Here is my situation with my boyfriend. We have been going out for 7 months now.. I’m in my 30’s and he’s in his 50’s. We only text that’s all..

I have never gotten a call from him throughout all these months. To me that’s weird. If I’m going out with someone I would expect them to call or video chat. But he doesn’t do that!!

He has an ex wife that he shares custody with he has 2 teenage kids.

My boyfriend has his own house. Am I even in a serious relationship with him?? I need help!! We also only see each other every 2 weeks because of his children..
