Harry Potter birthday??!

My daughter turns 9 in October, I know...that’s far away, but I’m a planner and so excited! She wants a Harry Potter themed birthday. Has anyone done this or have any ideas where to start? I don’t want just the usual tablecloth, plates and cups. I want it to be special!

Oh girl, I got you.  There’s a million ideas on Pinterest, but these are ones we’ve done.  Funnest party ever!
Diy wands:  get disposable chopsticks (round is better), add “designs” with hot glue, paint it all brown
Favors: chocolate frogs (just order a frog mold), etsy also has several sites that sell the chocolate frog box you can print at home and fold into shape to put the frogs in
Decorating: 1.  take a grey or cream colored table cloth, paint it using a rectangle sponge to look like brick (just dip the sponge in the paint and press it gently onto the tablecloth), cut a slit in it and hang it in the doorway for platform 9 3/4. 
2. Make floating candles using toilet paper rolls and flame less candles, Pinterest has a ton of tutorials, (we used command hooks to hang from ceiling and bought the electric candles with a remote - very cheap on Amazon)
3. Hang hogwarts acceptance letters everywhere, put owl stuffed animals around (these can double as favors too), cauldrons, etc
Activities: 1. Make a “have you seen this wizard” phot booth
2. Potions class where the kids make slime (rename the ingredients things like dragons bones or pumpkin pulp)
3. Tabletop quidditch where they throw ping pong balls through mini quidditch rings
4. Wingardium Leviosa where they have to use their wands to keep a balloon in the air without letting it touch the ground
Food: Make butterbeer and a pink cake like Harris made

Definitely check Pinterest, also YouTube (maybe look up Harry Potter Halloween decor). I know toilet paper rolls to floating candles turns out cool! Other ideas: chocolate frogs and flavored bean favors, acceptance letter invites, dry ice potion punch bowls, old glass bottles turned into potions, make your own wand (modeling clay) activity, etc.
