Does red blood spotting start day 1 of you period cycle?

Trying to conceive and dont have many nights together with hubby since he is a first responder. Thank you in advance.

I’m saying no and here’s why... 
You can spot for a few days before your period actually starts. Some women spot then go into a full flow the same day which that would be considered cycle day 1. If you’re just spotting and not having a full flow.. then it’s just spotting and doesn’t count as your period. 
Cycle day 1 is the day when you begin to have a full flow. Hope that helps.
