How long is baby nursing for??

Been struggling to get my 7 day old to nurse and take enough milk while nursing.... I had to give him a bottle of expressed milk after each nursing session as we were battling jaundice and did end up with an overnight stay day 5 to 6 in the hosp. He will drink 2-3 oz after a nursing session... I though I was doing such a good job nursing him but he clearly wasn’t getting enough and jaundice doesn’t help the sleepiness. Milk is in and supply isn’t an issue. How did I get him to take more from breast? He falls asleep right after latching on, even when I strip him down and tickle him the whole time. But if I give him bottle, he is all over it!! I’m at such a loss as I successfully nursed my first 2 boys to a year!!!!! I can nurse him 20-30 mins just to have him unhappy and rooting at his hands right after and won’t settle- give bottle and content.
