Weaning from BM to formula 🍼

I had to give up nursing a couple of weeks ago for several reasons, so my baby has been taking bottles of breastmilk. One reason was supply dropping, and the past week or so we've had to supplement with formula. He generally gets a bottle that is 4oz BM mixed with 2oz formula.

It's really hard to even pump enough to keep up with that now, and I'm ready to transition to formula fully. (Really wanted to do breastmilk til 1 but it's just not working out that way, and I'm coming to terms with it). I feel like I'm pumping 24/7 and I'm even more exhausted even though he's getting more sleep.

Anyway, I know I should transition slowly. First to 3oz/3oz, 2/4oz, 1oz/5oz, and then to full 6oz formula. I just don't know how long to do each phase for.

Has anyone weaned from breastmilk this way and have any advice for a timeline?

Anything I should know about formula feeding? There are so many out there I hope the one we are giving him is okay 😕
