Does everyone have breast milk when they are pregnant ?

Just wondering how it works, this is my first pregnancy and I would like to breastfeed if it’s possible

Milk doesn’t come in til after birth. Leaking colostrum is normal but not everyone leaks. And leaking or not is not an indicator of whether you can or can’t breastfeed. That’s determined at birth basically. I leaked a ton and didn’t BF.

My milk came in on my first 3 days after birth. My girl latched before I even cut the umbilical cord. Breastfeeding was easy for me on my first. 
However my cousin had a baby two months after me and her milk came in quickly as well. But she couldn’t breastfeed. Her little man wouldn’t latch. There are multiple things that you can get to help baby latch.

It can take 5-7 days for your milk to come in. The placenta detaching sends the signal to your brain to have your breasts begin the process. 
Colostrum will be what fills baby’s belly until your milk is in. Latching baby frequently & skin to skin will help as well.

Some people leak colostrum before the baby is born. I never did, but lots of women do. Your body doesn’t get the signal to start making milk until after the placenta detaches, so usually it comes in a day or two after the baby is born. ❤️
