Plus size pregnancy

Rocio

Hi ladies .. I really need some advice and would love to hear anyone’s experience, i am currently 290 pounds and really want to become pregnant. My husband and i have been ttc for a while now ever since we lost one two years ago. I went to the obgyn months back and she told me that its best to lose weight before trying again. I am trying my hardest but it doesn’t seem like the weight is going anywhere at the moment. I was Justin wondering if being this big is an actual issue for fertility and what are some tips to lose the weight

Ps. This well be my technical first time.

I was 310 when I got pregnant with my daughter and am 277 with baby number two. I am a thick girl but my health is good. Its upsetting when doctors focus solely on weight. Dont stress over your weight or becoming pregnant. Be happy and enjoy life. Then one day....Boom you will find out your pregnant. That's how both of my happened. Baby dust hun!!

I get why doctors are so quick to blame weight- but it’s annoying. I wasn’t trying to get pregnant last year (but not NOT trying either, you know?) and got pregnant. I bucked the trend I guess, I was 38 years old (advanced maternal age) and 300+ lbs (way too overweight to most people). I’d been married 14 years and just didn’t think we’d have kids. She was a big surprise! On vacation, got the text from Glow that I was ovulating, and ended up pregnant. Had a healthy pregnancy and delivered a baby girl in Feb.I’m sure for some folks, weight could impact fertility. But it’s not the only thing. I learned to really get to know your ovulation window- I was grossly uneducated of my own body. Use an app, track, do whatever to know that window well. If you know that and still struggle, hopefully you and your doctor can glean something from what you document about your fertile window.Eat a healthy diet, exercise, take care of yourself. Good luck in your journey, I wish you the best of luck!

It can. But losing some weight (and just a few pounds can help) really helps regulate your body and releases endorphins that make conception easier. Being 5 pounds less in itself won't do anything, it's all the changes that come WITH a healthier lifestyle. I was 285 when I got pregnant, and just walked daily and ate well. Sometimes that's all it takes.
