Is this normal?

My boyfriend has 2 days off a week 
And everyday he’s off he is always drinking. He drinks liquor and beer and everytime he drinks he drinks to get drunk. 
It bothers me so much but I also know the man works hard and he deserves to enjoy his days off. 
I just don’t know if I can handle this anymore. 
It’s always his main concern. And when I tell him to relax he just gets all mad. 
How do I handle this? 
Am I being a bitch? 
I’ve talked to him about it and he says he knows he needs to cut back but he never does. 
What should I do?

If he truly wanted to cut back, he would do so. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. It’s time to think about if you’re willing to put up with this for the long haul or not.

If he acknowledges that he needs to cut back but doesn’t then that’s definitely an issue and he might need to get professional help for that. There’s nothing wrong with having a few drinks on your days off to relax, especially if your job is stressful it’s understandable, but drinking all day or drinking until he’s absolutely wasted constantly is definitely problematic. If that’s his main priority on those days, as you say it is, then yeah you should be concerned. But the important thing to remember in this is that there’s only so much YOU can do. It’s not your responsibility to control his drinking, you can only control your own actions. Talking to him about it and offering to support him in trying to drink less is really all you can do. If he’s not actually interested in changing then this might have to be the end of the road for you guys. You can only offer someone so much help before it’s bringing you down, sadly.

No you have a right to be concerned. If the only day he has off he is drunk how is he expecting the relationship to work. Working is part of life, you don’t get a cookie for working. He needs to work hard and not get drunk on his days off. Maybe you need to tell him you want space to think things through. It may be the only way he will take you seriously. But you have to go through with it if you do tell him

Hes a functioning alcoholic. Some can handle it very well, I've known many. It depends how drunk he's getting. A few beers every night isn't horrible, but if he's drunk and sloppy, that's a problem. Some people aren't affected much by alcohol, its like drinking water to them. Its weird, but true. I've know lots of people like that. They know their limit and have just enough to get a little buzz going. 
Others use that little buzz as an escape. Sometimes pushing it a little further each time. It ends up being an addiction and they NEED those 2 or 3 beers or they don't feel right. 
Its not a deal breaker for me, it depends how the behave while drinking.

Yeah, I think I would be worried, what about if you go somewhere or do something he cant drink those 2 days? How it goes for him? 
My husband hasn't tasted alcohol in 4 years, we are together for almost 3, he was drinking away too much since he was a teen. 
So I am not sure how much is too much...
