When did you switch your toddler to forward facing?

My toddler is right in the middle of minimum to maximum weight and height for the car seat we use. He is 2 and a half. 
We live in Texas, and it is 105 or so daily in the summer. The car temp is god knows what. Itshot for him to face the back. He gets really over hot and it takes a long time for him to cool down.
I want to be safe though.

Ideally they face back for as long as possible, but in my opinion (and according to the law where I am) after 2 you can make your best judgement call. If you think him facing forward now is best, then do it. 
Personally I’d like for my little to be rear facing until 3, but who knows, maybe some other factor will make me forward face him before then.

I would turn the car on and ac on full blast at least 15 mins before getting in the car so it helps cool down by the time you get in! That's what we do 😊

We went to forward facing a little early because my son is super tall. At around 29 months, his head was starting to poke over the back of the shell in the car seat so we felt it was safer to move him to forward facing at that point. My doc recommends until 3yrs unless the head/neck isn’t getting adequate protection (which was what happened in our case).

I’m keeping my guy rear facing as long as possible. He gets hot pretty easily too, and I start the car before we need to go somewhere (remote starters are amazing!) and I just got him a noggle. It looks so dumb, but it seems to help, and if that’s what we need to do to keep him rear facing longer, that’s what we’ll do 🤷🏼‍♀️

I rear faced baby number 5 until 3 and he was just. Too. Big anymore. I rear faced baby number 6 until 2.4. He’s foreword around town but for long trips he will go back to rear
