Is being a lawyer worth it?

I know going to law school is a lot of money and a lot of hard work. And it is hard work after law school. Is the pay after worth it? I have had a lot of people tell me lawyers don’t make any money or it’s hard to find a job. Can anyone confirm?

As someone who went through a professional program that is more expensive and longer than law. And my profession pays less than the average lawyer is paid by far- yes it can be worth it. But only if you really truly want it and enjoy it. If you’re doing it for the money, you’re not going to love what you do 20 years from now. And considering how much work being a lawyer is and the hours will spend working- you want to enjoy what you do. Don’t go into a profession (any profession- veterinary/human medicine, law, education, etc) for money. Do it because you enjoy it. Then it’s worth all the hours, hard work, financial burden and struggle. If you love it you’ll survive it and come out on top. 
I suggest talking to lawyers, potentially shadowing some. There are many types of lawyers too so researching different ones will be beneficial as well. I know too many lawyers that hate being lawyers- they did it because they were told they’d be good at it, it paid well, etc. But had no idea what they were getting into and did it because they thought they should.

I’m a paralegal and I wish every day that I went to law school (I’m too old now and it doesn’t make financial sense for my family). You should do it! Make sure you practice in something you love. Good luck!

I tried and I’m just $44k in debt. Graduated in 15 and couldn’t find a job. I’m back in school for a whole new career. It’s mostly in who you know unfortunately

In my opinion no. Only because I’m big on family and when you have a lot of cases and clients then the work becomes overwhelming and you get less time for your kids and husband.
