Talking ???

My twins are 20 months in a couple of days, neither of them really talk, they say things like Mae which is mason my older son and juice and ba for bottle but every once in a while one of them will try to talk a lot and it just comes out jibberish but what is really bothering me about this is when he does this his tongue folds over to the side, not really sure how to describe it but his tongue just folds over the whole time he is trying to talk to me. It worries me that something is wrong with his speech. Anyone else noticed this or almost 2 year old not talking really yet ?

Are they more inclined with motor skills? Some babies talk really early and some babies learn how to use forks really early lol my first son who is 7 now was talking in sentences by 2 but struggled with some motor skills until older. My second who is 20 months can use silverware perfectly and can take things apart and put them back together but says only a few words. Mat Is mouse, drink, moo for cow, baa for sheep, mama, dada. And a lot of gibberish. As long as their motor skills are fine, they're fine. It just depends on what side of their brain is dominant.

I don't know about the tongue thing but my daughter is 20 month's and sounds like a minion.
Shoe is shooo, hat and cat is at, key is eee and night night is ni ni she can say yes and no but not much else it just sounds like gibberish. Which can make her quite frustrated when I don't understand what she wants.
If she's thirsty she'll either point at her sippy cup or my boobs and she'll pat her  head and point to her feet if she wants to play outside.

My son says mum, dad and bub. I’m kinda concerned but my mum and partner say he’s fine- because he’s got no other kids around to talk to 🤷🏼‍♀️

All kids develop differently and some have an explosion of words later than others. 
Speech therapy can be really beneficial if you’re worried at all about your LO’s language at all- they can have a look and tell you if the tongue thing is something that should be looked at further or if it’s just developmental and will correct itself with time. They can also give you lots of fun activities to help develop language skills- it’s not ‘work’ for kids it’s just fun. They might recommend a hearing test first. If it turns out his language is fine then you won’t have caused him any harm.

I have twins and they are almost 2 in September and they don’t talk very good. My little girl literally is so quiet she barely says anything and my little boy talks but not very clear. I think twins take longer my other two talked pretty good by 2

I’ve had some concerns about my son and speech and really started talking to his dr at 15 and 18 month check ups and keeping a list on my phone of words/sounds. Dr said 18-24 months is when you should see a big jump in speech development. If you’re concerned you can always call dr and request an evaluation and make sure they check hearing too, they should be able to do the referral. 
Just a happy ending speech story for you: my youngest sister wasn’t talking and started to receive early intervention speech, she had an under bite which effected articulation but she just wasn’t talking because everybody anticipated her needs or talked for her. By the time she started kindergarten she no longer needed services and now not only has her masters degree but is a kindergarten teacher. She just needed a little extra help in the beginning.

My son says about 5 words. My twins were the same didn’t talk much by 18 months 2 yrs but by 2.5 they were talking up a storm

My son can’t even say a word beside mama or dada and even that he isn’t pertaining to me. He recently learned how to talk on his own language lol... we cannot understand a word but it makes me feel a lil bit better knowing he’s trying lol... his pedia said she’ll evaluate him on his 2 years appointment then we go from there.
