Uncomfortable seeing kids hold animals?

A friend of mine posted photos of her kids enjoying the cat and all I could think of was that poor cat lolll looked so uncomfortable the way they were holding it. Am I wrong for always thinking how they let their kids just hold them like that????

Not only is this uncomfortable for the animal, it's dangerous for the child. I have a friend that lets her child STAND on their dogs. One day, that kid is gonna be over someones house and try it with the wrong dog. And then the dog will be punished or worse euthanized, as well as a child seriously injured thanks to someone else's bad parenting.

Drives me crazy! People think it’s cute until the animal bites or scratches because it’s in pain. Then of course they blame the animal instead of their bad parenting. I don’t allow children to pick up my chihuahuas...for both of their safety.

I absolutely hate when I see parents let kids treat animals however they(kids) want.. animals are not toys!! We have a cat that is almost a year old and we have had her since she was a baby and I have 3 young kids (12, 5 & 1.5) and you better belive ALL my kids know how to treat our cat.. or rather animals in general.. Ugh! I hate parents sometimes 🙄

With the cat, it seems unhappy but not angry. If the cat wanted down from the arms of a kid that size it would get down. Al it takes is one swipe with it's claws and it's free. My cat doesn't like being held for more than a few minutes so she swipes and gets down. The cat scratches enough times than the kid will learn. I feel like people don't realize that these animals aren't defenseless and are able to get away when they actually want.

My cat definitely wouldn’t stand to be held that way. She is not friendly with kids. But I also didn’t have little kids in the house around her. I cringe because I know my cat has attempted to attack little cousins of mine that have visited so I doubt we can keep her if we have kids.
