How did you know you were done having kids?

Question

My husband and I have always said we would have 2 or 3 kids. We live pretty busy lifestyles, both work full time, have hobbies we dedicate time to and enjoy travelling. With those things in mind, no more than 2 makes sense. 
But I’ve always wanted a big family and I worry that down the road I’ll regret not having a third. How did you know when your family was complete?

I only have one and i feel completely full. I don’t feel like anything is missing. I’d say that’s a pretty good indicator.

I’m really torn on this. We have one, and I’ve always said if we have kids we’re having two. I could have gone either way on having them or not. The one we have is pretty difficult. Still doesn’t sleep. I can’t imagine having to do pregnancy and newborn life again especially having my son who still probably won’t sleep. We also love to travel, which would be easier with one. And both own our own businesses. However, I want him to him to have a sibling. I have one brother (currently no kids) and my husband is an only child. I worry about him being alone. I have a friend who is an only child (single, no kids) and when her parents are gone, she won’t have any family. So the second child is really more of a long term plan 😂

My husband and I both said 2 was our max. I would have been fine with just one but we did have a second. We can each take a kid and have quality time one on one. Hopefully no one feels left out and we feel we can support two kids comfortably   Plus I have no urge what so ever for another kid

I've always wanted 3 kids, I am 1 out of 3 and when I babysat it was always 3 kiddos so that's my number haha! Plus I always loved having siblings growing up. Baby #2 due in August and I know I want another. I'm hoping I'll get the feeling that my family is complete after baby #3.

I feel like if you think you may regret it later then have the baby. Might not be the most popular opinion. But I don’t really care. We’re on number four and honestly I don’t know. Our house is only three bedroom so four makes sense but we’re still open to possibilities once the new baby comes.

So we decided long ago on just one child. I feel very busy with one, however I always get this sad feeling when I see newborns knowing my time is over.. When he's older and always playing alone, I might feel differently about our choice. We have decided to keep the option of adoption open, getting a dog someday, or making sure he really gets involved with extra curricular/other kids. As much as I wish I could have another one I know I wouldn't be able to handle it. It just feels like we made so much progress with this little guy that the thought of starting over is just exhausting to me!
