Pack and play mattress

Question

Do I need one ?? The baby will not be using it as a bassinet unless we go to grandparents or someone’s house. Wondering if the cushion that comes with it is good enough or not really

It’s not recommended to add anything to pack n play. My daughter slept in the pack n play with the cushion it came with for the first 6 months and it worked great! Even now that she’s a toddler, we don’t add anything when we use it on trips.

We never added a mattress to ours (the link). She slept in it with just a sheet for two months. We only add the sheet because of the mesh material on her face.

You don’t need one, and they’re actually not recommended because your baby can technically get stuck between the mattress and the sides of the pack n play since the mesh sides aren’t stiff like a real crib. That being said, I ended up buying this mattress for trips when my son was around 6 months old because he was so used to his comfortable crib mattress that he wouldn’t sleep on the hard pack n play mattress without this extra padding between him and the stiff cardboard.
