I am dying my hair tomorow after i get a hair cut, and i was just wondering what you ladies prefer dying with “clean” hair or “dirty” hair.. I am going lighter.

It depends on the type of dye and the process. If you’re dying your own hair then read the box and see what it recommends. Some box dyes recommend not washing you’re hair for 1-2 days, while others will say to have clean hair. I’m not sure what dye my stylist uses but she always wants me to come in with clean hair. I have another stylist I occasionally see and depending on what type of color we’re doing I will either wash my hair the night before or not wash it for up to 2 days. I’m not sure if there’s a huge difference but I think it depends on how drastic the color change is because I think dirty hair is supposed to offer a little more protection for your hair

Dirty, if you wash your hair you'll leave your scalp "un protected" and it can cause irritation with the chemicals in the dye
