Lap VS IUI

Kylie

Hi ladies,

I haven’t been officially diagnosed with endo yet (no lap done) but that’s the diagnostic course we are on. So far, my only symptoms of endo are mild to heavy spotting starting 8DPO to CD1, infertility (2 years TTC), painful intercourse, and some intestinal problems (although, these could potentially be explained by other issues and is mostly gas buildup and irregularity, no pain with BMs). I have mild back pain with menstruation, rarely have cramps and have extremely light periods that last 1-2 days. I’ve been to 3 different RE’s and we are finally exploring the possibility of endo in a more serious matter. We’ve ruled out most of the other possible conditions—polyp, PCOS, etc. I’ve had all the tests—HSG, SIS, multiple ultrasounds, two cycles of timed intercourse and 1 cycle of IUI. My husband has been thoroughly checked out and he is not the problem.

Anyhow, we are now faced with doing a lap for a definitive diagnosis or continuing on with more rounds of IUI but using injectables this time.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar, or if proceeding with the lap is really worth it as I’m not having any pain with my cycle, and my symptoms seem like they could be endo, but also don’t entirely fit the “norm” for endo. The main issue we believe to be causing the infertility is the prolonged spotting/light periods. My lining is too thin from the prolonged spotting and an embryo can’t attach. Since we have ruled out all of the other potential issues I’m debating if surgery is really the way to go.

Sorry for the novel, just extremely conflicted on how to proceed. Would also love to hear from those who have endo, but may not have had the “classic signs”. Thanks so much, and good luck to you all ❤️
