Should I call my doctor?

I had a D&C on Tuesday morning , she said everything went well and they removed everything they needed to. I didn’t have any spotting at first or cramping but last night around dinner time I started to have bad cramping and had trouble sleeping because of them. Woke up at 4 am to a dark red flow almost like day 1 of a period for me. Is this normal after a D&C or should I call My doctor?

I bled for about a week  after my d&c.  I'm surprised that you didn't have any up until now, actually. Very sorry for your loss

I had a crazy and terrible experience with my d&c. August 24th 2017 had original d&c at 14 weeks pregnant. Didn't have a lot of bleeding at first. About 10 days later passed a clot the size of my fist. Dr told me I was fine and it was just a blood clot. She did my d&c with ultrasound assistance to make sure she got everything. Wouldn't even send it to pathology to confirm. Less than a month later ended up in the er because I was in so much pain. Confirmed retained products. Given 2 doses of Cytotec and sent on my way. Follow up and bi-weekly blood draws. Oct 31st my hcg stopped dropping. I knew something was wrong. The nurse refused to schedule me an ultrasound appt with my dr so I went to a different clinic and was seem the next day. Confirmed retained products repeat d&c Nov 3rd. Hcg finally leveled out Dec 6th. Dec 28th passed really fleshy tissue during my shower. Went to work. At lunch felt like I was on labor. Back to the dr for another ultrasound. Told me it was a blood clot. Gave me pain medicine and Cytotec. Passed a golf ball sized mass of calcified retained products left from the original d&c. Confirmed with pathology. If something doesn't feel right always check with your doctor.

If you experience any clots the size of an egg or larger, that is an issue. Otherwise this is normal and to be expected. You might bleed like this for up to a week, like a period. It should taper down to spotting after that, and resolve entirely within a few weeks.
