I borrow money to someone

I borrow money to someone mid March. It’s a big money. This person promised me to give that money back in 3 days as he would be furloughed. Since then I’m waiting for my money. He saying his company owes him 13 weeks payment to him and his colleagues. It seems like the company received the money but never paid the employees. I don’t know what to believe.
