Is a boppy really necessary?

Question

I’ve spoken with some ladies who have said they barely used it. And we have so many extra pillows in the house already (hate to add another!) What is your opinion?

Well I don’t know which boppy you are asking about but I use the nursing pillows all of the time. My arms get so tired if I don’t because of how my daughter likes to nurse. I NEVER used a pregnancy pillow to sleep. My husband used a body pillow and I simply stole that when needed in pregnancy. It kept me from rolling to my stomach and that’s all I needed. I was otherwise comfortable without it.

The boppy ring are breastfeeding no. I used my breast friend. But I use this multiple times a day

Noo!!! I always laid on the bed to breastfeed and I think it was way more comfortable than sitting with a pillow. I rarely felt tired bec I was always getting to rest while breast feeding! And if we were out of the house I wouldn’t have the hoppy with us anyway and it worked just fine. Hope this works for you!

I hated my boppy. It doesn’t fit the way you would think it should. It’s totally awkward. I just propped my arm on the arm of a chair or couch with a normal pillow under it for more support or nursed laying in bed!

Not necessary, but might be nice to have. I bought a My Breast Friend pillow when I was pregnant and a boppy lounger. I was also gifted a regular Boppy. I used the My Breast Friend for nursing only in the very very beginning and then found it was easier/more comfortable to prop my arm up with throw pillows. 
We used the regular Boppy for a short period during tummy-time, but also our play mat came with a little tummy pillow so it wasn’t really necessary. You could even use a regular pillow for that. 
I used the Boppy lounger a lot though! It was where I laid my daughter down when I needed a quick second. She loved it until she could roll over and sit up.

The my BrestFriend was awesome for breastfeeding. But only during the newborn stage. I found it completely unnecessary around 3-4 months old. My Boppy however, I’ve used through 2 kids. It’s super helpful once baby needs support sitting up (which is practically impossible with the MBF due to the back support thing). Now my 3.5 yo toddler even lounges in it/snuggles it at nap time. Sometimes I even put it around my neck when laying in bed watching a movie with hubs. I just think it has so many universal uses.

I have a boppy ring that is great for lounging while holding her or for her learning to sit, but this pillow is hands down the best for nursing.

I never used one for my big kids, and don’t plan on it for this one. I was gifted one but it just isn’t the same. I used a regular standard size super soft pillow. Makes a great lil nest to set baby on, it’s easy to fold and squish the way you need it to. I would fold it and shove it between me and the arm of the couch or chair and put my arm or leg on it. The Boppy I was gifted just seems so hard and firm compared.

i dont use it as a nursing pillow but i use it literally all day just to have the baby propped up next to me. way better than a swing because i can easily reach over and grab her without having to get up or bend down (which helps tremendously as i had a c-section)
