What’s NOT really needed?

Just wanted to see what some parents consider as “optional”. When I was born, it was about 8-9 of us living in my aunts one bedroom apartment, so needless to say, everything was pretty much “optional”.
I only had a bassinet which I ever “out-grew”, no matter how many times I fell off out it 🙄 I also didn’t have a high chair among other things. 
I’m thinking a high chair isn’t a necessity 🤔 What else could parents pass on?

You 100% need a high chair for babies around 4 months which is when you start using one. But this one is a good option but still safe. Booster seats aren’t made for younger babies and just aren’t safe. The Abby would fall.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to baby gear, but I still used a high chair.
I never used an exersaucer or bouncer, though.

Highchair. Changing table. Baby monitor. Bottle warmer. Wipe warmer. Baby bathtub. shoes for non walking children. Baby swings or saucers and crib or bassinet are not necessary. baby will still need something safe sleep approved like a playpen though.

A high chair is absolutely necessary, as is a crib. Please look up basic parenting equipment lists so you can provide the bare minimum for your child. You can buy items in stages as necessary so you don’t take up much storage space, and there are always compact versions of necessary items.

I am a minimalist who lives abroad in a small apartment. And I think the answer depends on 1) do you have other kids? 2) are you comfortable setting your baby in the floor (or a safe spot to set while you go pee or whatever)  or are there dogs or anything else that makes that unsafe; and 3) are you planning to co-sleep or keep the baby in your room in a pack n play. I think you can do without the high chairs, monitors, changing table, changing pads, cribs, exersaucers, strollers. We could have made it through h our first year with a baby carrier like this or the ergo baby (that kind is better for 6+ months, these better for smaller), some Muslin blankets for floor play and to use as a nursing cover, and using household items for “toys”. I use a cheap ikea high chair now bec she can sit and start eating while I prepare the rest of the food, but I know people who have help at home and do without.

I didn't use a walker, exersaucer etc with my little one. Just a little push toy for her to hold onto. She's walking like a champ at 11 months

I have a small house so I tried to be a minimalist. Get yourself a pack and play instead of a crib, bassinet, and playpen. Some of them come with bassinets and other fancy stuff included if you want. I do use my high chair multiple times a day, but I bought one on wheels and that can be taken apart and used at different stages.

I got a changing table like this one and used it only at night with my first baby. Just for it to break very quickly. I just used a dresser with a chair going pad on it for my second and third babies. Of course I never looked away from them or left them alone on the changing table as there’s nothing to keep them from rolling off.
