Not Dilated

I’m 39 weeks and 3 days and had an appointment with my OB yesterday. He checked to see if I was dilated. I asked him and he said no. He asked if I’d been having contractions and I said yes, because I have, and loose stools as well. He said to the assistant in the room that “ she’s almost ready”. I’m not sure what that means if my cervix isn’t dilated? I asked him if she’s head down even though I was pretty positive she is and he said yes.So should I take the she’s almost ready to mean baby’s head is engaged 🤦🏼‍♀️ I just don’t want to go past my due date!
