Boyfriend doesn't want to get married

My boyfriend told me he doesn’t really see himself getting married. He wants to be with me but just isn't that interested in marriage. His parents aren't married and have stayed together happily which is why I guess he doesn’t see it as that important. He also said he’d prefer to have a baby first. He's not completely opposed to marriage. I always thought I would marry and I like the idea of being traditional - get married and then have kids and he knows this. I'm confused because I knew ages ago that he wasn't set on marriage but he's said things since that made me think he wanted to get married one day. If we did get engaged it wouldn't be for a few years. I just don't know what to do.
