Is it ok that i lied to him about this?

My bf and I have been going through a rough patch. And yesterday we decided to go on a date night, first one in such a long time. I had been upset at him for a few things the past week and we haven’t had a day we didn’t argue but things were settling down and we both wanted a night where we just enjoyed each other instead of worrying about stuff because it was urgent stuff.

Anyway so I came to his house about a half hr before he got home because I had to give my brother a ride in the area so decided I might as well just go to his house early rather than all the way home. He knew this and told me it was great and he was excited to come home to me before going out for dinner.

Well he had bought me a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers but being forgetful he left them on his kitchen counter. I went into his kitchen to grab water before going to his office to use his computer while I waited and saw them.

Then later on his way home I called to ask him if I should be ready to go right away or not and before we hung up he got nervous and asked if I went in his kitchen and I said no.

Well then later before we headed out he went down into the kitchen before I did and told me to meet him by the door to leave and he was standing there with the flowers. While I knew what he was going down to do, the sight of him with the flowers made me so happy so my reaction was genuine, but not the part of being surprised.

Is it bad I lied????

Some of our issues had to do with him lying to me about stuff (not cheating or anything) so I feel extra guilty. Also I’ve never lied to him. Even a couple times when I accidentally figured out his surprise and he would ask if I knew I’d tell him that I did. But we really needed this win. And I know he really want to me to be surprised and happy in the moment
