Growth scans?

I see so many people on here posting about growth scans but this is my second child and have never had one. Is this something they commonly do and for some reason my doctor doesn’t? Or is there usually a specific reason for them doing one and I just don’t qualify?

I think your doctor would only let you have growth scans if he/she is worried if baby is big/small or if your high risk and need ultrasounds to monitor baby or fluid levels. With my first I had a healthy pregnancy so my OB never had me do any ultrasounds after my anatomy scan. My second was high risk so I had to get NST done plus an ultrasound 2 times a week till I gave birth. This pregnancy my doctor is making me have another ultrasound done at 38 weeks to determine baby size to see if I need another c-section or if I can VBAC. If everything is perfectly fine with you and baby and your doctor isn’t worried about anything he/she probably won’t have you get any ultrasounds done.

My belly was measuring 3 weeks behind at 34 weeks so they wanted to make sure she was growing well. She was measuring spot on at 34 weeks. I’m just tall and my torso is so long I have a lot of room to hide a baby lol

I got them because I have gestational diabetes. I wouldn’t have otherwise

My doctor told me I needed one because my belly was measuring big. If you’re on track with fundal measurements and no other risk factors they don’t usually need one. Had it today at 37+4 and she was right, he’s measuring >99th percentile and already 9 lbs 5 oz 😳

They did one for me because my little bab was measuring small. Usually they only do it when something abnormal comes up, i.e. measuring too big/small, high-risk, and so on.

They did one for me because I had high blood pressure (worried about preeclampsia), and they were going to do another one on Thursday.. but they’re inducing me tonight.

Because of my thyroid i am considered high risk. So i got one at 6 weeks, 12 weeks(couldn’t find the heartbeat on doppler) 20 weeks, 28 weeks, 32 weeks, and i have one for 38 weeks if i make it that far.

I got one with my daughter because they thought she was big (born at 8pounds 11) and with my son I have cord issues so they checked to make sure he isn’t small.

I only ever got 2 each pregnancy. But, because of my last baby having a birth defect we didn't catch and her dying from it, I had scans at 19, 24 and 32 weeks with a high risk center. Due to 2 early miscarriages I also had scans at 6 and 10 weeks with my OB and at 36, 37 and again next week at 38 weeks because she's breech. And will have our final one at 39 weeks just before they wheel me back for a c-section. 
So, I'll have a total of 9 with this pregnancy.
