Which spelling is correct? I'm seeing both ways

Example: I'm 40wks and I think I'm in Labor/Labour.

And why the 2 spellings?

Like color and colour

I'm Canadian so labour is correct for us and the UK. If you're in the US labor

USA = labor/neighbor/check
CAN = labour/neighbour/cheque

The correct way is where your from, like the others said. In the US, "labor" is correct. But it's not a huge deal how it's spelled, really.

Depends where you live and preference. I write medical reports for a living and depending on which hospital I’m typing for, some want me to spell it labor, some want labour. Some goes for tumor/tumour.

US spelling is without the u, like with many English words. It's all to do with a guy called Noah Webster in 1806 when he came up with Webster's dictionary. He wanted to make words simpler.

The U is unnecessary, IMO. But I’m not Canadian or British and they use ou.
