Best form of BC?

I’ve gotten the shot AND taken the pill. I honestly hate the shot because I like to have a period. I have very bad paranoia and it just gives me a sense of relief to have one lol. It also had rlly bad side effects on me. I talked to my DR about an IUD but she said they are less effective if you have not given birth before & they seem to have more complications? I’ve heard horrible stories about the shot so I’m confused. Should I switch methods? If so what should I get? I would still like to keep my period but I’m scared if I’m on the pill I will forget
