What do UK hospitals provide?

Question

This is my first little one and I’m about to be in my third trimester so thinking about the hospital bag! I’ve watched so many US Youtube videos about what to pack it it seems like they got a lot from the hospital. I know this ain’t the case for the NHS UK hospitals.
But, what do they provide? What do I need to bring? Do I get to take anything home?
Do I need to bring a peri bottle?
Sanitary towels?
Towel for showering?
Nappy’s?
Wipes?

Uk mum here. They don't provide you with anything really. You have to bring it all yourself. They will provide a baby blanket (which you leave there) and any towels for baby. Everything else you bring yourself. Nappies, milk, clothes, hats, towels, shower gels etc you have to take yourself. If you are botrle feeding highly recommend pre prepared bottles (you get them in a pack of six) packed in your bag to give to the baby as they don't provide sterilising facilities. If you are breast feeding they may supply you with a pump to borrow. If you are breast feeding and the baby struggles and needs formula to supplement they  may provide you with formula bottles but basically order your partners to get.more sent in for you ASAP. They don't provide anything 😂 you gotta bring all that yourself. They only provide milk if breat feeding fails, so if you plan on bottle feeding you'll need that too.

Just want to say if you go in emergency or from a place where you don't havr your bag with you they will provide stuff. 
I was in on my own with nothing as I got induced from a checkup and they gave baby a nappy, sma ready done bottles, hat and blanket until I got my stuff.

Hospital won’t provide you with anything (why would you want them too really) take everything you think you and baby will need for 2/3 days

I’m in Scotland and my little girl was given a knitted hat and all our milk was supplied. Her first nappy was supplied by hospital too and the nurses used their maternity pads when getting me ready after giving birth! Hope this helps x

You mostly need to take everything yourself, they can provide stuff for you but it depends on the hospital. I was stuck in hospital a week and whenever i needed a new pad or net underwear they gave them to me, at one point I ran out of nappies until dad could bring some and they gave me them too 😊 they do have stuff available if needed. We had a knitted blanket and hat placed on baby that we got to keep too ❤️ they should able to sterilise bottles for you if you have microwave steriliser bags, this is how i was able to sterilise my pump parts.

I've had a Baby in Germany and two in the UK. I think it night vary from hospital to hospital and my hospital in the UK gave me a list of things I'll have to bring. Which is basically EVERYTHING!. They didn't provide anything I can remember. I was breastfeeding, but my daughter had low blood sugar so they sent my brother in law to get some ready made formula from the nearest shop. They do have some on hand but it's for emergencies only. Like if this had happened in the middle of the night and there was no way of sending someone to the shops. 
There were no towels and no sanitary pads, no wet wipes or nappies, no Shampoo or anything useful. Other than a pillow and a duvet cover (didn't even get a proper blanket). 
In Germany it was very different. They provide basically everything. Nappies, wet wipes, clothes for the baby while in the hospital, sanitary products, nipple balm, shampoo etc. Everything was there.

They don’t provide anything. At my hospital they gave me a small towel for a shower straight after but it wasn’t very big. They gave me a pad and did ask if I had mine. Same with formula and nappies etc. They will give you odd bits but that’s all. You take your own nappies, wipes, towel, snacks, pads, etc. Every hospital has a different policy so best to ring them and ask/or ask your midwife

In my local hospital they provided the milk (little pre made glass bottles either sma and cow and gate) and a towel for showering etc. But I took all my own stuff in..towels, sanitary pads, nappies etc
