Breast feeding tips??

Question

This will be my third but I formula fed my first two, not sure if breast feeding is really something for me, but I’m just curious how it works if you supplement? I feel like if I could breast feed/pump at home and supplement with formula when we are in public I would enjoy the experience more. 
P.s. I don’t know the first thing about breastfeeding. So do’s and don’ts are welcome to! TIA!!

Here are some of my favorite infographics about BF. Basically the more you know about it, the more likely you are to succeed. So read up a lot on it. Every time you supplement, you should pump, otherwise you’ll be making less milk. It’s all
About supply and demand. The more you empty your breasts, the more milk you’ll make. And babies empty them more efficiently than pumps do.

All I have to add is take a breastfeeding class and work with a IBCLC when baby is born. I highly recommend the class to everyone that wants to breastfeed. There is sooo much more info out there that people have no clue about.

I’d bf & pump if you’re going out. Then there will be no need for formula if you put the milk in the bottle if that’s more comfortable for you in public. Sometimes using formula can affect supply. Not always tho, just something to be mindful of. Whichever you chose is perfectly fine!

What K, C, and Lindsay Said + especially look up cluster feeding periods, and evening time fussiness. Took me by a huge surprise when my Frist was born. It's natural, normal, but absurdly intense and tiering!

That’s what I did! My baby was not easy to nurse ever and would thrash about so it looked more like I was trying to wrestle him than feed him. I nursed at home and then if we were ever out and about we did formula. I would pump as soon as I could if I ever missed a feed just to keep my Supply from dropping until about 3 months. he would refuse the pumped milk in a bottle so we just stuck to formula for those feeds- it was also easier when I started back to work to just send formula with him to the sitter.
When Covid hit and I was home more I nursed more and then when I started back to work we went back to bottles at the sitter and everything was just fine both ways, it was super nice to be so flexible. 
I recommend just nursing for at least the first 3-6 weeks or longer to establish your supply before adding in bottle feeds but it’s totally doable!
