Whats it like switching from bf to formula?

I am considering starting my 3 week old on formula. Breastfeeding is pretty much all I do.  I feel like it has consumed my life. And i think letting my husband have the opportunity of caring more for her would be good for them. Does anyone else have experience switching? Good or bad i want to know.

At 3 weeks, I was ready to give up too. I would gently suggest not throwing in the towel. It will start to get easier after 6-8 weeks, and by 10-12 weeks it will most likely be easier to breastfeed than to prepare formula bottles. But this is not to say it's bad to switch to formula, just that it might be easier to breastfeed in the long run. 🙂

No judgement if you did switch- have you considered pumping? Might give your husband a chance to still feed. I don’t have advice on formula though 😢 good luck

I switched at about 2 months. I don’t eat very healthy so I think my milk wasn’t fatty enough and he wasn’t gaining enough weight. I switched with no question and was a great decision. It’s taken a lot of stress of my shoulders and baby boy is thriving. Fed is best.

I switched my daughter to formula after about a week of breastfeeding. I was so stressed she wasn’t eating enough and I definitely wasn’t eating enough so my milk had almost no actual fat to it. Switching took so much stress off my shoulders. I did feel guilty but I knew that she was eating and I knew she was eating enough so I just kept that in mind and I’m really glad I did it

I switched about a month ago. I regret it. I bf until my daughter was almost 6 months old, and like you, I thought it would make my life easier. But I wish I’d just stuck with breastfeeding. Formula isn’t as gentle on my baby’s belly, I miss the bond we had while she was nursing, and let’s be honest, formula is expensive. $18 for a can she goes through in three days 😩. I’ve actually been talking to a lactation consultant about attempting to re-lactate. 
But everyone is different. If breastfeeding just isn’t for you, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with formula. I would see if you qualify for wic though, because that would help a lot. Formula is not cheap 😭

I switched after a week. I was stressed out, in pain, and having constant anxiety attacks. Switching allowed me to enjoy time with my daughter and is allowing me and my husband to get more sleep because we alternate shifts feeding her. I was upset that I had to switch, but not as upset as I would have been forcing myself to continue to try while she just chomped on me haha.
