switching nipple to medium flow...?

when do you switch? my dude is almost 3 months old and we tried the medium flow nipple and he was like chugging and out of breath milk running down his face so I think clearly he's not ready OR do they have to get use to the medium flow nipple?

I just changed my LO to a 2 because he was chewing on the nipples, getting mad because it was to slow of a flow, it took him an hour to eat and falling asleep without finishing and waking up angry and hungry. If they have any of these or all of them its tine to switch. If not, leave them where they are at.

I switched my little girl to a size 2 nipple when I noticed she was sucking hard and then pushing the bottle away mad. She was taking longer to drink her bottle then before.  She dribbled milk with the size 1 nipples so she is just a messy eater. She also starts out drinking her bottles so fast you would think she is starving but then she slows down about half way through. If you feel he is having an issue with size 2, then go back down a size and see what happens.

Same boat, i bought them w the intent of switching but they seem a little to fast for him... i use the dr brown nipples

My son was in the NICU for the first 11 days, he was 6 weeks early. With a slow flow in the NICU he was falling asleep and not finish his bottle so his nurse switched him to a medium flow and he never had an issue. I think it depends on the baby.

I mostly breastfeed, but when they have a bottle they always use a slow flow nipple. No need to size up nipples unless they are getting frustrated with it coming out too slow.

I just changed my LO nipple flow today ON ACCIDENT! My SO bought some and I boiled em then when making his bottle I grabbed the medium flow. He actually did really well. Seems less fussy during feedings so mine was completely accidental

How do you know if you do need to switch? What kind of signs do they give?

I never changed from a slow flow with my first child. She stayed on it for a full year with no issues
