Painful nipples

I breast fed my baby the first 2 1/2 days of her life and it was so painful. My nipples were raw and bleeding i had to stop. I feel guilty bcuz I have milk still and she is now 9 days old. I tried pumping when she was 6 days old and it was still too painful. Is it too late to try and pump?
