What caused this?

I'm not sure if this is the right page to ask, but I need answers.

So recently, my husband and I decided to start trying again for another baby. My son is 20 months now and we've been trying for about 6 months. Ice been using ovulation kits, but my bleeding had been all over the place and I couldn't detect a surge most of those months. After a 16 day "period" I went to my obgyn and they did an ultrasound and endometrial biopsy. The biopsy was found to be benign but showed chronic endometritis (inflammation). I don't know where an infection could have come from other than my previous delivery.

During my delivery with my first son, I had a retained placenta and the provider (not my regular obgyn) manually removed the placenta because I was hemorrhaging. It was pretty traumatic because I wasn't given any analgesia for the manual removal and hadn't had any pain medication for my labor/delivery. Afterwards, it took a long time to really talk about it and my cousin who is a nurse practitioner suggested getting a hard copy of my medical reports to go over and let it make sense. I noticed in the reports that I was also never given any antibiotics following the delivery or prescribed any. I figured since I didn't die, it must have been fine, but now I'm just curious. Could that have caused a small infection that led to the endometritis I'm experiencing now?

I'm just freaking out a little bit because I'm reading the information pamphlets my provider uploaded to my patient portal and it says infertility is common in people with chronic endometritis. Ant nurses or doctors here, or anyone who's gone through this before?
