1st scan at 16weeks??!

Question

Feeling super disheartened - just had my appointment letter for my first scan today and it’s 6 weeks away! I’m 10 weeks today based off LMP so by the time I’m having my first scan I will be 16weeks! I’m in the U.K. has anyone else had this? I’ve called asking if it’s a typo as I thought first scan was between 11-13 weeks abut no ones gotten back to me yet 😞😞😞😞

Defo call them hun, you’re meant to be scanned around 12 weeks they shouldn’t be making you wait till 16 weeks!! X

They always try and get your first scan at 12 weeks, so they’re either really backlogged or made an error. Phone them again.

Thank you all for replies! I kept on at them and have been changed to mid August so I’ll be just over 12weeks. Phewwwww

That's wrong! You always have a scan in the UK between 12 and 13 weeks so they can check due date and do some testing. I've got mine on Thursday and I'll be 12+3.. I would continue to call them and say you will be over the 13 weeks needed for the scan so they need to rebook you one xx

It’s cus you’re in the UK. My aunt lived in the UK for 8 years and had her daughter there. Her daughter is now 14 but she said even back then, she only got one scan. It was earlier than 16 weeks, maybe around 10? But that was it. 
They just scan to make sure its not ectopic. After that they don’t scan you unless something is wrong.

I would suggest going for a private one that way your partner can go with you as well 
They shouldn’t be leaving your dating scan until 16 weeks that’s awful x

It's because you are in the U.K. I think, you get very few scans there. Or at least that is what I've seen from others that live there.
