Should I buy housewarming gift for close relative (Read full story before voting)
So this person is moving into a house and I feel like I should buy them a housewarming gift but here is why I feel conflicted.
They before moved awhile back into a house, another woman and I went up and cleaned it from top to bottom. It was no easy chore because that place was nasty! Even as they did repairs on it I cooked lunches for them so they wouldn't have to take out very long from working. It went unappreciated. Now if anything is mentioned about me helping them with the house they laugh and tell everyone yeah right she wouldn't help. That hurts since I have helped, but apparently they don't remember that. Even gifts, we've given $100s to them for their anniversary, bought nice birthday presents but when our anniversary or birthdays roll around we get nothing. Not even a card. I don't think I'm just assuming when I say I know they wouldn't get us anything as a housewarming gift. My husband and I had a talk about it, I asked him what I should do. He ultimately left it up to me but said if we do get them something atleast we've done our part. I just don't know what to do. Be the nice guy or let it go. Also no, they're not having a housewarming party I just thought it might be a nice gesture since they're so closely related.
