Is this weird?

My MIL stopped over to see my 20 month old son yesterday. He was playing around and ended up hitting his head on the floor. He was ok, but cried for a minute. My MIL started screaming “bad floor! Bad floor!” And hitting the floor. Like, literally smacking the floor while yelling at it. At first I was like wtf is she doing, but she kept doing it, she did it like 30 times and I was like ok this is really weird.

My friend told me yeah, it’s weird but lots of people “hit objects after it hurts a child”

Wtf??
