My mom said “if you’re gonna suggest he buy you something like that, don’t say anything at all. Why embarrass him in front of all of us with a cheap gift? You only ask if you’re brave enough to ask for something expensive like a new phone. We need to see what he’s capable of buying you without you suggesting anything”
