I asked my boyfriend for an acrylic paint set and canvas paper for my birthday, and my mom went nuts.
My mom said “if you’re gonna suggest he buy you something like that, don’t say anything at all. Why embarrass him in front of all of us with a cheap gift? You only ask if you’re brave enough to ask for something expensive like a new phone. We need to see what he’s capable of buying you without you suggesting anything”
