Can wic refuse a item that my son needs that's medically necessary? My wic office is refusing my son of his rice cereal even though there's a doctor's order and it's necessary he has it for his acid reflux. I've never had this kind of issue there refusing it to him until he's 6 months.

Rice cereal isn’t a medical necessity and I wouldn’t trust any dr who recommends it in a bottle at all or for a baby under six Months old. Major choking hazard. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can see why WIC wouldn’t allow it under 6 months. 
If your baby has reflux, has dr prescribed meds? Or a hypoallergenic formula? So sorry if your baby has that as my little guy is struggling with it too!

What about switching to a rice starch formula? My lo has reflux and we use the target brand, it's thicker and works great for her.

I had to switch my sons up a bit due to his reflux. Now we are on Enfamil AR which has rice starch in it. It’s thicker and he has not had an issue with it so far. WIC just asked me why but it didn’t go further than that.
