Telling my boss im pregnant?

Hello, 
I just want some advice please. I work a physical job, warehouse work which requires lifting heavy items and being around hazardous substances. I’m very early into my pregnancy 5 weeks 3 days to be exact. Do you think I should tell my boss now or wait until I’ve had my appointment with the midwife? Thank you.

Call your midwifes office and ask them for advice. I wouldn’t wait until then. Better to get medical advice from a professional than this app.

I work in a lab, not the same but like you I do a lot of heavy lifting and there are hazardous chemicals. I told my mangers the day I found out to allow for them to plan. I know most people don’t like to tell anyone so early but I think in this instance you need to and get a risk assessment conducted ASAP. They asked me to get the opinion of my midwife so they can put it forward to upper management as an urgency case for a replacement immediately. Luckily I am already under a midwife because I’m on the books of a specialist maternity bereavement team so I could ask straight away but I’m sure you can call your maternity unit for advise if needed.

I would call your midwife and get their opinion. I work in at company that has hazardous chemicals and I let just my supervisor and the safety officer know immediately so they knew I couldn't do certain things. But I have a good relationship with my manager and they respected my privacy other than the safety considerations.

I work in a warehouse as well. I told my boss right away, after my first appointment but she is a rockstar and i knew i had nothing to worry about. If anything they tried to accommodate me too much and i had to tell them to stop. I was able to do my regular job (lifting over 50lbs consistently and walking all day) until i was around 32 weeks. And was put on complete light duty at 36. 
The only thing my dr put off limits immediately was ladders or anything i could fall from, and using forklifts.
