Mucinex While Pregnant?

Question

Has anyone taken Mucinex for a cough while pregnant? I would call my doctor to ask but it’s Sunday so his office is closed. My husband went to both pharmacies we have in town and they were all out of Robittusin. I googled which medicine is safe to take while pregnant and both Robittusin and Mucinex kept popping up.
I will be 18 weeks pregnant on Tuesday.

As long as it's not the decongestant it should be fine. The Mucinex-D and RobitussinDM dissolves mucus linings in addition to suppressing cough which increases risk of miscarriage. (Not a certainty though.) The regular ones are on my doctor's list of safe meds.

The list my OB gave me said mucinex is safe. I took it with my first two pregnancies as well

It’s actually a safe med, yes. But last pregnancy I had such a bad cold and called L&D for some answers because nothing was working and the Nurse I spoke to said if you’re not drinking a TON of water while taking mucinex, it won’t work. So if you take it, make sure to up your water intake!! 😁
