Are we wrong for this?

My parents and I have been planning a vacation for months now. We are going to the mountains, socially distanced away from other people. We are leaving on Monday and will be back on Friday. My mom already made the reservations and my dad needs the break from work. Well my grandma (my mom’s mom) unexpectedly is going to get a pacemaker put in on Wednesday. My grandpa was going to take my grandmas sister to the doctor to get cataract surgery on Thursday, but now that he’s going to have to be with my grandma, her sister is going to have to take a cab to and from the doctor’s appointment. Their brother is starting a new job and said he can’t do it. 
My grandma was putting a guilt trip on my mom and basically saying we need to stay home from our trip to take our aunt to her appointment. Is it wrong of us to not cancel our trip?

Your aunt can uber or Lyft to and from her appointment or reschedule it to next week when you guys are home. You shouldnt be expected for throw an untold amount of money spent as well as your plans into a pyre because your aunt won't take a cab or postpone.

I see both sides, doesn't your great aunt have any children of her own? Otherwise yes I'd postpone it for a bit because of the medical stuff going on...

I'd say it depends on how far away you're going. If you're close to home, then go. If your going like to a different state I would stay for multiple reasons. One, if someone were to have complications I would imagine your mom would want to be around to help, it also sounds like maybe your moms aunt doesn't have anyone to help her out after the surgery. But also no one should be traveling very far right now and tourist destinations are insanity right now. For example - jackson hole, wy - people think they are going there to get away from people but this is by far the largest tourist season they have ever seen and that's even without their biggest tourist demographic (international travelers).

Girl I say go. Someone is always going to need something. And of you put your plans on hold for everyone else you end up burning yourself out. Everyone needs a vacation for the physical and mental health. She can get someone else to take her. She is grown. She can figure it out. Just say im sorry but we have plans we cannot change.

Doctors appointments can be rescheduled. It’s not your responsibility to drive anyone to their appointments. Or they can take an Uber, Lyft, VAB, etc. A lot of planning goes into a family vacation, I wouldn’t cancel it and lose my deposits for that reason.
